TEHRAN - Despite the weaknesses and declines in Iranian cinema, it can not be considered as trite due to opinions of cineaste, said the cinema award winner and jury of Fajr Festival Parviz Parastouei.

"Lack of proper knowledge about the taste of the people and cinema goers, as well as their expectations and desires have caused decline in cinema industry and have lead people to keep distance from cinema. That is why they are hardly eager to watch a movie on silver screen," he added.

He continued, "Despite good and capable Iranian cast and directors, Iranian cinema faces crisis", Pointing to the improper situation of cinema industry in Iran, Parastouei mentioned that some cinema owners are quite willing to lend their cinema halls to businessmen or even turn them to use as business shops.

About the youth interested in the art of cinema, he said, "I do not disagree with the active presence of the youth in cinema, but there are some principles to be observed in this art. The artists should have proper knowledge of the society they are living in and act. They carry a hard responsibility in the field of cinema on their shoulders".

"There used to be the belief that an artist is a step ahead of the society, but the present truth tells of something else and if the artist does not try to catch up with his society, he will fall behind", he added.

Mentioning the low artistic impact of IRIB, the actor said that the less technical programs of TV which are mostly entertainment ones pay less attention to the truth, and people do not communicate with these kind of programs of TV.

A good film can not only communicate with people and entertain them, but also can be remembered as an everlasting film in minds and this is the message that all those who are in charge of cinema should follow, he concluded.
